Blessed in Christ Jesus

By Asher Eagle

When you put your faith in Jesus Christ, you are made one with Him, and placed in Him. Under the old covenant, there were many blessings for keeping the law. The problem was that no one could keep the law, and that there was a curse for breaking the law. The scripture tells us that the righteous shall live by faith, and that the law is not of faith. Jesus Christ fulfilled the law and in Him we can now receive all of the blessings that come from keeping the law, because the law is now completed and fulfilled in us through our union with Jesus Christ.

For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.” Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith. (Galatians 3:10-14)

The blessings and favor of God are not dependent on good moral behavior. They do not depend on good works or on living our life “right.” They do not come from following a moral code or the ten commandments written on stone. Nor do bad circumstances indicate that we are outside of the favor and will of God. Bad circumstances indicate that the devil is trying to take our eyes off of Jesus, and bring us back into slavery to the law, and the condemnation that comes from Adam, and is given power by the law.

The enemy tries everything he can to bring us back under the law, and to point our eyes on ourselves and our performance, others, circumstances or anything just to get our eyes off of Jesus. He tries to even get us fixated on himself like a child throwing a tantrum. He does this by trying to mess with our circumstances, whether it be through attacks on our health, finances, or state of mind. He tries to bring heaviness, hopelessness, and depression and temptation. His tool is to try and get us to adhere to some doctrine that diminishes the cross. He tries to get us to believe he has some kind of legal access to attack us, or that we somehow opened the door, because he knows that if we resist him and stand in our faith in Jesus, he MUST flee from us and he has no power or authority to come near us. It doesn’t mean that he won't try, but we are already victorious in Christ Jesus and the more we look at Jesus and take hold of His resurrection, the less we will see the attacks of the enemy, and the more we will walk in the promises that come through the finished work of the cross.

The blessings of God are all in Jesus Christ, so we can simply receive them by meditating on His steadfast love and hyper abundant mega grace. (Romans 5:17, 20, Acts 4:33) The blessings of God are received by grace and brought into our lives through faith, and there are so many throughout the scriptures. The scriptures tell us that All God’s promises are “Yes” in Jesus Christ to our “Amen.”

For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No, but in him it is always Yes. For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory. (2 Corinthians 1:19-20)

This simply means Jesus has finished the work completely and totally, and He has earned every blessing and promise of God, and our Amen is simply us saying “We believe, let it be so.” It is posturing our hearts to receive, even though we may feel like we are screw ups and we know deep inside that we do not deserve such amazing blessings! This is the beauty of the gospel! We did not, and cannot do anything to earn or merit God’s favor and blessing, nor can we do anything to take ourselves out of God’s favor and blessing! Jesus removed our sins as far as the east is from the west, and God does not look at our sins anymore. Jesus also is the Son of a perfect father and in Him, we are now sons and daughters and co-inheritors of all the promises of the gospel. Our Father and Mother own the cattle on a thousand Hills and we are the bride and thus co-heir of the inheritor of the entire earth!

As we see the kingdom of God expanding on the earth and Jesus being revealed to the world as the gospel is proclaimed throughout the nations, we can also see that there is still evil on the earth and that the kingdom of darkness is throwing a huge fit and trying everything it can to survive. The bad news for the devil and all his minions is that his kingdom and all his works were destroyed and dismantled completely at the Cross! It is now up to us through the power of the Holy Spirit to enforce the finished work of the cross and kick out all the demons and evil from the earth. We do this by fighting the fight of faith.

This means taking a violent stubborn stand in the promises of God and the finished work on the cross, despite what we see in the natural and our circumstances. This is the very nature of faith. It is to look to the unseen rather than the seen. We do not yet see with our natural eyes the full restoration of all things or everything that the cross of Christ completed. We don’t yet see the works of evil totally destroyed on the earth. We don’t yet see that Jesus has inherited every nation and that all the nations of the earth are blessed but we can see Jesus and what He has already accomplished for all mankind and we can believe the gospel that God preached to Abraham.

Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. (Galatians 3:7-9)

So by faith the body of Christ manifests what Christ walked in and purchased for all mankind. Through faith in Jesus we purge the world of all evil through the fiery love of God poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit He has given us.
